Do you know the different types of licences/authorisations? Very simply, there are two types.
Type A devices are heating, lighting, power or refrigeration devices that use gas as their fuel. These include badged, mass-produced appliances such as gas stoves and hot-water systems. Anyone undertaking work on these devices, (installing, removing, altering, repairing, servicing, testing and certifying) must have a current gas work licence.
Type B devices are any gas devices that are not badged Type A appliances. This includes industrial gas plants and many commercial gas devices. Gas work authorisations allow businesses and organisations to undertake Type B related gas work. Of course, there are different types of authorisations that can be issued.
